Academic Calendar & postcard
ROLE: Solo project
TOOLS: Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
OVERVIEW
The Rutgers New Student Orientation and Family Programs (NSOFP) connects first year and transfer students to campus resources through orientation, welcome programs, and the like. The client sought to create a deliverable that students would find both useful and informative throughout the year. After some consideration, we decided upon a calendar that students could customize according to their schedules. The calendar would be filled with university events and information about student organizations. The client also requested a postcard for distribution during Welcome Week at the beginning of the fall semester.
The main design elements were taken from previous NSOFP brochures: bright colors each representing a particular student organization category and bold graphic lines.
Each month featured a particular student organization category, a list of the organizations in that category, and a student photo. Each month’s color corresponded to the category that was featured.
The calendar portion itself featured a monthly university organization, a descriptor, and its website. It includes the main university events of the month, student events, and holidays.
The postcard uses the same design elements as the calendar to ensure that it was visually cohesive. It contains a summary of how students can get involved at the university, student organization categories, and contact information. Both the calendar and postcard were distributed during Welcome Week and throughout the academic year.
